A new off-field hospitality concept at the Gaslamp Gate

The San Diego Padres are expanding their hospitality footprint outside Petco Park with the launch of Diamond Room, a 50-seat cocktail lounge designed around a late-1970s “retro-chic” theme. The venue is located beside Gallagher Square near the Gaslamp Gate, at 323 Seventh Ave., in a portion of the historic Simon Levi Building—an early 1900s-era warehouse that has been restored.

The lounge is set to begin with a soft opening on Jan. 14, 2026, with broader public access beginning Jan. 16.

Partnership structure and operations

Diamond Room is co-owned by the Padres and developed with Delaware North, the ballpark’s longtime food-and-beverage operator. The project is the first collaboration between the Padres’ hospitality and events division, Finest Collective, and Patina Group, the fine-dining and hospitality arm within Delaware North.

The space is expected to operate initially on a limited weekly schedule, with hours expanding around Padres home games and other events at Petco Park and Gallagher Square. The lounge is also intended to function as an events venue, including small-group mixology classes and private rentals.

Design and menu: cocktails first, with a compact food list

The interior concept is built around a 1970s-inspired aesthetic, including red velvet curtains, black leather booths, mirrored elements, record displays and turntables, and a disco ball. The beverage program is centered on classics-inspired cocktails alongside beer and wine, including non-alcoholic options.

The food menu is designed as a limited selection aimed at pairing with the bar program. Items span small plates, salads, flatbreads, and handheld offerings. A signature item called the “Diamond Dog,” described as a Korean-style corndog made with Snake River Farms beef, is positioned as a featured menu choice.

  • Capacity: 50 seats
  • Location: 323 Seventh Ave., by Petco Park’s Gaslamp Gate and Gallagher Square
  • Concept: late-1970s lounge design with classic-style cocktails
  • Use cases: nightly service plus private events and mixology programming

Replacing a former tenant and reflecting broader venue strategy

Diamond Room takes over space previously occupied by City Tacos, which operated there from 2020 until its closure in 2025 after the Padres exercised a lease buyout. The change marks a shift from a casual quick-service offering to an upscale lounge model positioned for pre-game traffic, date-night dining, and late-evening downtown footfall.

Diamond Room adds another year-round hospitality use near Petco Park, extending activity beyond the stadium’s game-day schedule.
