Major Roadwork and Nightly Closures

Caltrans District 11 has issued several advisories regarding ongoing infrastructure projects that will affect travel later today and through the end of the week. Commuters should plan for the following impacts:

• I-805 Southbound Pavement Rehabilitation: Motorists in the South Bay should be aware of overnight lane closures on northbound I-805 at Telegraph Canyon Road. • I-8 to SR-125 Connector: The eastbound I-8 connector to southbound State Route 125 remains subject to nightly closures. The ramp will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. each night through Friday, February 27. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes such as SR-94 or local surface streets to transition between these highways.
• La Mesa Infrastructure: In the Jewel of the Hills, preliminary work is beginning following the approval of funding for the La Mesa Boulevard Complete Streets project. While major disruptions are not immediate, expect increased utility work near the intersection of University Avenue and Memorial Drive.

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) has reported several active detours and maintenance alerts for Wednesday:

• UC San Diego Blue Line: Starting at 9:00 p.m. tonight, Blue Line trains will undergo single-tracking between 8th Street and E Street stations to allow for rail tie replacements. While trains will maintain a 15-minute frequency, riders should expect minor delays and must use the eastbound platform for all boardings at these stations.
• Bus Route Stop Closures: Construction continues to impact several bus lines. Stops for Routes 1, 10, and 11 at westbound University Avenue and Vermont Street are currently closed. Passengers should use the stops at University Avenue and 9th Avenue instead. Additionally, Route 13 riders will find the southbound stop at El Cajon Boulevard and 43rd Street closed through the spring.
• Route 8 Nightly Detour: The Balboa Avenue off-ramp at Morena Boulevard will be closed from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. tonight, affecting Route 8 service to the Old Town Transit Center.
