Public Transit: Late-Night Blue Line Maintenance

Commuters utilizing the UC San Diego Blue Line should prepare for minor delays this evening. As part of a week-long rail tie replacement project, the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) has scheduled single-tracking operations beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Thursday, February 26. The work will occur specifically between the 8th Street and E Street stations. While trains will maintain their standard 15-minute frequency, all riders at these stations must use the eastbound platform for boarding both northbound and southbound trains. Normal service is expected to resume by early Friday morning.

Downtown Roadworks: Harbor Drive and Park Boulevard

Surface street traffic remains heavily impacted in the downtown area due to the ongoing Harbor Drive Trunk Sewer Project. Motorists traveling near the San Diego Convention Center should expect Harbor Drive to be reduced to a single lane in both directions between Beardsley Street and Park Boulevard. These restrictions are necessary to accommodate major utility upgrades and are scheduled to remain in place through the middle of the year. Additionally, minor lane closures may be encountered near Park Boulevard and Tony Gwynn Way as crews continue work on the at-grade crossing extension. Pedestrians and cyclists are advised that various sidewalk closures are active along the southbound side of Harbor Drive.

Freeway Updates: I-805 South Bay Rehabilitation

Long-term construction continues on Interstate 805 in the South Bay. Caltrans District 11 is currently engaged in an extensive rehabilitation project targeting infrastructure between the U.S.-Mexico border and central San Diego. While most major lane closures are scheduled for weekends or late-night hours, commuters should remain alert for shifting lanes and construction equipment near the 43rd Street and Imperial Avenue interchanges. Auxiliary lane additions are currently in progress to improve merging patterns, though daytime through-traffic remains largely unaffected at this time.

Community Notice: Campo Road Workshop

Residents in the East County area are invited to attend an in-person public workshop this evening regarding the Campo Road Corridor Revitalization. The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rancho San Diego Library. Officials from the County Department of Public Works will present preliminary engineering and design plans for safety and walkability improvements on Campo Road between Rogers Road and Granada Avenue. While the meeting will not cause immediate traffic delays, those attending should plan for extra time to park and access the library facility.
