Carlsbad’s Flower Fields reopen March 1, featuring 55 acres of ranunculus blooms through May 10

A seasonal landmark returns to North County
The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch will open to the public on March 1, launching its annual spring season across nearly 55 acres of Giant Tecolote ranunculus. The attraction is scheduled to operate daily through May 10, 2026, with standard visiting hours running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Set along the Interstate 5 corridor at 5704 Paseo del Norte in Carlsbad, the site has become one of the region’s highest-profile spring draws, with seasonal visitation commonly reaching into the hundreds of thousands. While the public experience centers on rows of intensely colored blossoms, the property functions as an active agricultural operation that is managed year-round.
What visitors can expect from the bloom
The 2026 display is tied to the ranunculus bloom cycle, which varies with weather and planting schedules. Site operations are designed to produce a rolling bloom rather than a single, uniform peak across all acreage at once. As a result, the amount of field in full color can change from week to week, with peak conditions typically arriving later in the season.
The ranunculus plantings are widely associated with the region’s coastal growing conditions, including cool marine influence and springtime temperature swings. The fields are managed to balance public access with farm safety and crop protection.
Admission structure and on-site rules
General admission is sold via timed-entry tickets, with online purchase required before arrival. Standard pricing for the season lists adult tickets at $27, seniors (60+) and military at $25, and children ages 3–10 at $17; children under 3 are admitted free. Season passes are also offered, including options priced at $65 for adults, $60 for seniors and military, and $40 for children, and are marketed as covering repeat entry during the season.
Visitor policies include restrictions intended to manage crowd flow and protect the farm environment. The venue is designated alcohol- and tobacco-free. Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted; service animals are allowed. Drones, bicycles and balloons are also prohibited.
Beyond the ranunculus: activities and added experiences
In addition to walking paths through the flower blocks, the property operates seasonal activities that are separate from basic admission in some cases. Offerings typically include a tractor wagon ride around the perimeter of the fields, a Sweet Pea Maze, and greenhouse and garden areas. A Butterfly Encounter is also part of the 2026 lineup, with expanded facilities described for this season.
Season dates: March 1 to May 10, 2026
Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily
Location: 5704 Paseo del Norte, Carlsbad
Tickets: Timed-entry, online purchase required
Planning for the visit should account for shifting bloom intensity across the season, timed entry requirements, and separate pricing for certain activities.
The opening marks the start of one of the region’s most established spring events, combining a working farm schedule with a tightly managed public-access season designed around peak coastal bloom conditions.
